Well there is a very long answer to that, but we shall settle for a short answer whilst we are building the website.
The simple answer is that we are passionate about Mother Earth, Goddess, Spirituality, Sisterhood, and the gender imbalance along with all of the consequences that brings. Other issues close to our heart are community, social justice, equality, oh yes did we say Goddess Spirituality and the Sacred Feminine.
We welcome any women to join us, but we do focus on nature as we strongly believe that whatever one's religious beliefs, nature just is. Being in touch with nature brings a stillness, a peace and calm that allows you to seek your own answers within - and inner peace is certainly on our agenda.
Understanding the seasonal changes helps us recognise why we feel the way we do at various times of the year. As Mother Earth's energies change, so too do ours. The phases of the moon have an impact on how we feel, yet in this busy society that too is often missed. We like to encourage women, and the community, to be more in touch with Mother Earth for their own well being and the health of the planet.
Sisterhood, women have a natural connection to each other and the energies of Mother Earth. Not that we need them, but there are scientific studies that prove that women together support each other, it's a natural instinct which shows in our chemical make up. Women have gathered for all time, but again, with modern society the way it is, this too has been lost and needs to return - so we are doing our part to encourage it to happen. Families move apart from each other for various reasons, so the support and advice from the various generations is not always there. We hope by encouraging Goddess Circles and the various gatherings of women, will make up for this.
Women have their own natural power, their own skills and abilities, and yet this society makes women feel they have to emulate men to be equal. We don't. We are equal but different, and The Goddess Foundation want women to know that they have a strong and powerful woman inside them screaming to come out, even if they are not feeling confident at the start of their journey.
The Goddess Foundation works to encourage women to re-discover their Inner Goddess, connect to all that is, and stand up and be counted. Any level you feel comfortable with, as long as you feel strong enough to be the best that you can be. Together, we can change things for the better for ourselves, our children, and the world around us.
Why a voluntary organisation rather than a business?
We made this decision as there are some wonderful businesses out there offering excellent workshops and circles, most of which who charge. Nothing wrong with that all, we all have to keep a roof over our head after all. However, it is often just the people that can't afford it that need the most help to build their confidence, need to have the support of other women, and be offered a helping hand whilst they find their spiritual path and empowerment.
We strongly believe it's about being supported and sharing wisdom, whilst we each seek our own truths. So, we organise all sorts of circles, gatherings, events and workshops. These are either free or as low cost as possible. We also help women to set up their own Goddess Circles, which they can do at virtually no cost at all. All it takes is friendship, community, love and sharing. Now doesn't that sound like a beautiful world!
